Announcements from Mrs. Fiete

Announcements

Next Monday, October 18th:

  • New classroom procedures: Students will be deducted 5% of total grade of an assignment for not putting their name on the assignment, not writing first and last name in cursive, not heading paper correctly
  • Second nine weeks assignment: Each student must read two books within his/her lexile range that have a Reading Counts Quiz. Grades on the Quizzes will count in students’ final grades for the second nine weeks. These two quizzes must be complete before the conclusion of the 2nd nine weeks.
  • Pajama day: In honor of Red Ribbon week, students can wear PJs and slippers to school. The theme of the day is “Drugs Destroy Dreams” Students must wear appropriate shoes to and from school, at PE, and on the playground. Also, PJs must be within school guidelines for appropriate clothing.

Next Tuesday, October 19th:

  • Flip Flop Day: the theme of the day is “Don’t Flip for Drugs” Students must wear appropriate shoes to and from school, and on the playground.

Next Wednesday, October 20th:

  • Report Cards Available on Powerschool for first nine weeks
  • Classroom Auction: we are still taking donations for the auction. Donations can be gently used toys, dollar store treasures, or snacks that meet healthy food guidelines.
  • Reading Test: Even thought it’s a short week, we’ll be having a reading test. However, this week it’ll be open book!

Other:

  • Please sign up for Parent-Teacher conferences using the website given in your email. I’d like to have everyone signed up by Friday, October 22nd. If you need it again, here it is: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/P85GHYC
  • I need a couple parent volunteers for some computer projects.
    • The first, I’d like to prepare a Power Point presentation with the first 500 words of the English language for some of our struggling readers to practice with. I’d send home the list of words, and you could create the presentation and email it back to me, or send it in on a disk.
    • The second, I’d like to work on doing some sentence correcting from a book I have called “Daily Oral Language.” However, I’d like to sentences typed into a Word document so that I can make them into overhead transparencies and save paper!
